1980 FIN – Microdot Reorganizes; Changes Name

Microdot Fastener Group has changed its name to Microdot Fastening Systems. The name change for the Troy, Michigan-based company reflects a recently implemented reorganization of 16 Microdot companies into four new divisions, president J.W. Horton told FIN.

• Microdot’s new Screw & Formed Specials Division, headquartered in Troy, will be responsible for the design and manufacture of a broad line of propriety screws and cold formed specials, including bolts, ball studs an shoulder screws with unusual head to shank relationships.
• The Nut Division, also based in Troy, produces specialty nuts and consists of five U.S. manufacturing plants plus an affiliate in France to serve the European market.
• The Special Components Division includes four plants for manufacturing a wide range of clamps, wire forms, stamped fasteners and assemblies. The division is headquartered in La Grange Park, Illinois.
• The High Technology Division with headquarter offices in Fullerton, California, will continue to serve the aerospace / aircraft industry and other industries with like applications with a variety of fastener products, including specialty nuts, inserts, and a tool system for installing proprietary engineered nuts at high speeds. The European market is served through an affiliate based in England.
