October 8, 1982 FIN – The Wire Association International has established an Interwire Fastener & Springs Study Committee to explore ways to generate more participation from the fastener and springs industries at future shows.
Interwire, the largest wire and wire products manufacturing industry exposition in North America, is owned and operated by The Wire Association International.
The fourth biennial event, Interwire ’87, drew 7,765 people from 53 countries to the Georgia World Center during the last week in October.
Inspired by the success of the first Rod & Wire Pavilion and the strong cross-over attendance from the concurrent International Fastener Exhibition, the committee will study ways to bring more of the industry together under one roof.
J. David Beneke, president of Beneke Wire Co., who’s the current president of the Wire Association, said that the formation of the committee was brought about in part by concern over the growing number of narrowly segmented trade shows in the metalworking industries.
Klaus Sauerbier, president of First International Corp. and Robert Guthrie, president of Rockford Manufacturing Group, are co-chairman of the study committee. Also serving on the committee are Harry Benoit, vice president marketing and sales for Fastener Engineers, Inc. and Carl S. Eld. Jr., president of Eldco, Inc.
The Committee will poll exhibitors and members of the industry to develop a plan for increasing involvement by all aspects of the industry in future Interwire shows. Anyone wishing to participate or offer suggestions should contact the committee through G.R. “Monk” Munger, executive director, Wire Association International, 1570 Boston Post Rd., P.O. Box H, Guilford, CT 06437. ©1982/2015 Fastener Industry News.
