1990 FIN – Fastener Industry Connection Results in Family Reunion

July 26, 1990 FIN – Larry Engelson of ESCO Fasteners in Oceanside, New York, met Richard Engelson of Pioneer Valley Fasteners & Supply of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts during a breakfast meeting at the National Industrial Fastener Show in Columbus, Ohio.
The two Engelsons learned that besides being involved in the same industry, they were related, each having the same great-grandfather who emigrated to the U.S. from Russia.

As a result the two organized a family reunion in Connecticut over the 4th of July weekend, which drew 70 Engelson family members from California, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Ontario.

Larry Engelson told FIN the family plans to put together a family tree dating back 150 years.

Larry Engelson and his brother, Mel Engelson, took over a family-run business founded by their father, Rubin Engelson, in 1957.
Esco is a stocking importer of fasteners, offering mainly full kegs.

Richard Engelson, a former long-time employee of Lawson Products, founded Pioneer Valley Fastener & Supply, a full line fastener distributor, about a year ago.
Larry Engelson told FIN that another family member from Engelson Hardware, located in Manhattan in New York City, also attended the reunion. ©1990/2010 Fastener Industry News
