1990 FIN – Keen Screw Expanding Two Plants

December 19, 1990 FIN – Keen Screw Products Inc. is expanding operations at two locations.

Mark Kramer announced a 15,000 sq ft addition to its Elk Grove Village, Illinois, headquarters and a doubling of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Diversified Fastener & Tool Co., in Conway, Arkansas. The combined additions total 60,000 sq ft.
At the Elk Grove Village plant, Keen Screw has begun producing three additional types of fasteners, including a seems line (#4 to 5/16 in. diameters using standard and special washers), KTT trilobular fasteners (totally trilobular shank with special point), and six lobe fasteners (in various sizes and configurations, including tamper resistant applications).
Kramer also informed FIN that Keen has been accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). As a result, the company is tripling the sir of its quality facility to handle customer demands for quality programs.
Keen Screw was founded in 1962 by the company’s current owner and president, Robert Kramer, who prior to forming Keen Screw, was a vice president at Universal Screw Products. Kramer opened the Diversified subsidiary in 1976.
Keen Screw is a producer of standard and specialty screws from #3 to 7/8 in. diameters, up to three inches long in steel and stainless steel. The company supplies major OEMs, primarily appliance manufacturers, as well as the plumbing and heating market, transportation aftermarket, and the computer and security industries.
Diversified Fastener & Tool, headed by Marshall Simon, general manager, is a producer of standard and semi-specialty screws from #4 to 1.4 in. diameters. Diversified supplies OEM and some distributor markets.
