March 19, 1993 FIN – Time To Blow Out Some Candles.
FIN enjoys recognizing some companies and individuals who have persevered in the fastener field (which is easier to do these days than, say, back in the early 80’s). So here’s something about some milestones that have been successfully recorded about two companies that are part of our industry.
Albany Steel & Brass Corp., Chicago, Illinois is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 1993.
The company was founded in 1918 by Eugene Lebovitz, a Hungarian born sheet metal worker, the grandfather of David Lebovitz who became president of the company after his father Al’s passing in 1987.
Albany Steel & Brass is a stocking master distributor for several types of proprietary fasteners. Product lines include hand held and power tools, anchors, metal and building screws, screws for plastics, #2 through ⅜” diameter types B, F, and Swageform, thumb screws, fine thread and special wing nuts.
David Lebovitz tells us the company is planning as open house in the fall of this year. The company’s address is 1900 W. Grand Ave., Chicago, IL 60622.

Bossard International, Inc. recently commemorated its tenth year of operations in the U.S. with celebrations at their U.S. headquarters in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and their service centers in Greenville, South Carolina, Elk Grove Village, Illinois and Cerritos, California.
Henry Bossard, president of the Bossard Group of companies, Bernd Karl Stapf, senior vice president, and Jerry Hejtmanek, president of the U.S. operations, visited each of the facilities to host the celebrations and thanked the employees for their contributions.
Bossard cited the tremendous growth potential of the metric market in the U.S. as the main reason for the investment here over 10 years ago.
Stapf identified logistics and technical support as key areas to be addressed in order to provide added value to the quality products already offered by Bossard. He stated that providing the lowest total in place cost to the customer via linked systems will be the springboard to success in the 90’s.
In closing remarks, Hejtmanek added that Bossard’s continued success rests not only on investments in tools and equipment but more importantly on each individual’s commitment to quality in their work. He presented the principles of continuous quality improvement which will be the foundation of the error free program at Bossard.
Bossard International, Inc. is affiliated with the Bossard Group of Zug, Switzerland. The Bossard Group is one of the largest metric fastener trading companies in the world with sales and service centers located throughout Switzerland, France, Denmark, Austria and offices in Japan and Taiwan.
The U.S address of Bossard is 235 Heritage Ave. Portsmouth, NH 03801. ©1993/2015 Fastener Industry News.
