2010 FIN – MFDA Publishes Fastener Black Book
October 25, 2010 FIN – The Metropolitan Fastener Distributors Association published a 249-page “Fastener Black Book.”
The first edition of the book includes inch/metric equivalents, standard dimensions, fastener grades and reference tables.
The book was first published in Australia in 2007. It is compiled and copyrighted by Pat Rapp Enterprises.
The book includes sections on fastener standards; an introduction to threaded fasteners; basic fastener technology; fastener measurements; abbreviations; common fastener thread forms; materials and mechanical properties; fastener tensioning; fastener failures; load comparison charts; thread sealing; selection chart; hardness table; platings, coatings & finishes; inch fasteners; ANS, ISO and DIN metric fasteners; stainless steel, aluminum, non-ferrous and plastic fasteners; self tapping screws; fastener identification; tapping charts; and a fastener glossary.
The spiral-bound book also includes a thread pitch identification gage.
