Fastenal Fastener Sales Continue to Climb

Fastenal Co. reported fastener sales rose 12.2% in August, boosted by a 3.8 percentage point gain attributable to the recently acquired Manufacturers Supply Company (Mansco) business.

The latest figures continue the company’s fastener success that began in February, when Fastenal said fastener sales improved 1.5% – marking the company’s first uptick in fastener sales since the third quarter of 2015.

Overall sales grew 12.8% to $411.5 million in August, with daily sales improving 12.8% to $17.9 million.

Sales in the U.S. increased 12.2%, while sales throughout North America gained 12.6% during the month.

Fastenal said sales to manufacturing customers grew 14.6%, while non-residential construction sales rose 6.4%.

During the first eight months of 2017, Fastenal opened 13 stores, compared to 32 during the first eight months of 2016.

The company’s workforce increased 1.1% to 20,111 in August, including a 1.9% gain in distribution personnel and a 2.4% gain in manufacturing personnel.

During the second quarter of 2017, Fastenal’s fastener sales grew 7.9% to $404.9 million. Web:
