April 28, 1989 FIN – Guardian Rivet & Fasteners, Ronkonkoma (Long Island), New York, has reactivated the production of certain types of threaded fasteners at its manufacturing division.
Thomas Blank, vice president, tells FIN that Guardian Mfg., which produces the company’s lines of AS and MS rivets (monel, inconel, and other) and specials, has begun manufacturing stainless steel, brass, and alloy steel Phillips head screws.
Two promotions have also been made in the Guardian organization. Donald Blank, previously plant manager, has been named general manager of Guardian Mfg., responsible for the company’s manufacturing operations, purchasing, and other administrative duties. John Cunha, has been named to plant manager of Guardian Mfg.
Donald Blank (who’s the son of Thomas Blank) was most recently a sales representative at Guardian. He’s been with the company for five years, and before that, he was with John Hassal, Inc. for nine years.
Cunha, who also was previously with John Hassal, joined the company two years ago as a foreman.
Guardian Rivet & Fastener, formed in 1983 by Thomas Blank and Jerry Ryan, was initially a distributor of aerospace fasteners. In 1986 the company acquired the Rolex Fastener Co., New Milford, Connecticut, a manufacturer of high shear and solid monel and high shear rivets. These manufacturing operations were later merged with Guardian’s distribution operations in Ronkonkoma under the named Guardian Mfg.
Guardian Mfg. is located at 201 Trade Zone Dr., Ronkonkoma, NY 11779. Guardian Rivet & Fastener, the distributing part of the business, is located at 70 Air Park Dr. Ronkonkoma, NY 11779.
Footnote: The former Rolex Fastener Co. was never a part of the company bearing the same name, the Rolex Co., Hillside, New Jersey, a manufacturer of springs and washers. ©1989/2015 Fastener Industry News.
