December 18, 1989 FIN –  Fastener Services Inc. has an ownership interest in a new joint venture called Materials Management Group Inc.
MMG has been established in Appleton, Wisconsin, to supply a full line of fasteners and class C materials to a number of OEM and MRO accounts.  MMG will finish building a new warehouse and office facility by the end of this year.
The principal owners of MMG are Mel Pope and Jim Fitzpatrick, both of whom most recently held upper management positions at Endries Fasteners.
Pope will head up the company’s marketing and sales efforts, and Fitzpatrick will handle operations management.
The rest of MMG’s management team includes Brian Yost, director of purchasing; Jim Wilda, director of OEM sales; and Bob Malinowski, director of MRO sales. All three were most recently with Endries.
MMG’s address is 2319 Pensar Dr., Appleton, Wisconsin 54915. Tel: (414) 749-1212 Fax (414) 749-1242.

Pope tells FIN that MMG’s approach to selling fasteners and class C materials differs from a traditional distributor.  Operating more as a service company, he explained, MMG offers a number of different products or systems after looking at an OEM’s complete manufacturing environment.
MMG will offer customers total management of their parts requirements with the option of tapping into the “substantial resources” available through the other affiliates of Fastener Services Inc., Pope tells FIN.
Under the Fastener Services management umbrella, MMG will operate as the sixth affiliated corporation. The “substantial resources” referred to above by Pope are the five other companies under that umbrella. These include distribution and manufacturing operations in 15 states east of the Mississippi and in Ontario, Canada. The combined sales of these operations, according FSI, are expected to reach about $30 million for the year ending 1989.
FSI’s six affiliates are:
1. Materials Management Group, Appleton Wisconsin.
2. Florida Bolt & Nut, with two branches (Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach) and a fabricating shop in Ft. Lauderdale.
The company is headed by Michael Swartz, president; Cheryl Warner, executive vice president; and James Finn, FSI vice president administration & finance.
3. Fastener Manufacturing, Memphis, Tennessee, operates TEBCO Threaded, headed by Chuck Howell, and TEBCO Plating, headed by Bill Baxter.
4. Tri-West Products, Detroit, Michigan, headed by Dick Luce.
5. TEBCO Products Inc., operates two units in Tennessee: Nashville Distribution, headed by Gary Edick; and Memphis Distribution, headed by Buddy Thomas.
The Memphis operation is divided into the Memphis branch and the Tupelo branch, which was Mississippi Bolt.
6 TEBCO Maintenance operates branches in Memphis and Tupelo. The division is headed by Gary Baltimore.

FSI is headed by president Mike Turnbull; Gary Edick, vice president for sales & marketing; and Jim Finn, vice president for administration and finance. ©1989/2012 Fastener Industry News
