1993 FIN – New International Fastener Machinery Association Holds 1st Board Meeting

June 30, 1993 FIN – The International Fastener Machinery Association, a new group representing worldwide suppliers of machinery, equipment, tooling, materials, testing and technical services for the fastener and precision formed parts industries, held the first meeting of its board of directors on June 17 at the Marriott Colony Square in Cleveland, Ohio.
Let’s first of all tell you something about what the IFMA is all about in its own words:

Mission Statement

International Fastener Machinery Association

To foster the mutual interest of members worldwide which supply machinery, equipment, tooling, materials, testing, and technical services for the fastener and precision formed parts industries.

To work in cooperation with existing groups to collect, exchange, and disseminate technical and commercial information relating to the production, distribution, consumption, and use of fasteners and components made from ferrous and non-ferrous material.

To promote and develop meetings, events, expositions and educational programs worldwide aimed at enabling the industries to conduct themselves with the greatest economy and efficiency and to improve the welfare of those engaged in the industries.

To facilitate the understanding, trade terminology, and generally promote the serviceability of the fastener and precision formed parts industries.

 

The 12 IFMA directors, representing both U.S. and foreign companies, is made up of:

One of the first duties of the directors was to hear representatives for various show organizations or associations to present and discuss their plans for upcoming shows.

Providing this information, in the order of their presentation were:

• John Hogg of Intras Ltd. who discussed Wire World (to be held in 1995).

• James Bannister and Gloria Crase of Bannister & Associates who discussed the National Industrial Fastener Show & Conference (held yearly in Columbus, Ohio).

• Tom Renner, vice president of the Wire Association International which will host the biennial Interwire show in Atlanta, Georgia in 1995 (at which time Renner will be president of the group).

• Barbara Silverman, representing PEMCO which runs the International Fastener Exposition (IFE), usually concurrently with Interwire in Atlanta.
