The 2020 Taiwan International Fastener Show will be April 21-23 in Kaohsiung and include fasteners; meters and instruments; fastener tools; manufacturing equipment and wire / raw materials.

Taiwan exported 1.6 million metric tons of fasteners totaling US$4.6 billion in 2018.

Conference sessions for 2020 include a Global Fastener Summit; a “Value Added Intelligent Manufacturing Technology” seminar; Expansion of the Taiwan Fastener Industry in India and Indonesia Markets; Procurement Policy Meeting; and One-on-One employment meetings for global talents.

There also will be a welcome dinner plus one-on-one procurement meetings.

In 2018, the biennial trade drew 417 exhibiting companies totaling 1,110 booths.

There were 2,193 overseas visitors in 2018, with 27.5% from China; Japan totaled 10.8%; India 8.5%; U.S. 7%; and Germany 5%. Other major countries were Italy, Malaysia, Vietnam, Korea and Thailand.

Taiwan’s fastener manufacturing began six decades ago. Its “industrial cluster synergizes every facet of fastener-related supply chains.” Taiwan manufactures fasteners for automotive, aerospace, medical, architectural and IT hardware industries.

The “screw cluster” runs 30 km from Kaohsiung to Tainan and covers the full manufacturing process from screw forming, heat treatment, electroplating and packaging.

The trade show promotes that a Boeing 767 requires about 1.8 million nuts and bolts; a car more than 2,000 fasteners and a bicycle 40 or more.

A high-quality screw for a watch must be tempered in as many as 20 steps before controlling the hour, minute and second hand.

Taipei 101, Taiwan’s tallest building, uses torque control screws to withstand a degree of force.

The trade show is organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. Founded in 1970, TAITRA is a nonprofit trade promoting organization sponsored by the government and industry organizations. TAITRA has 1,300 specialists and operates five Taiwan offices and 60 branches worldwide. It is co-organized by the Kaohsiung city government.

The trade show is implemented by the Taiwan Industrial Fastener Institute and TAITRA.
