Chin Well Fasteners and Chin Herr Industries parent company Chin Well Holdings Bhd signed a 25-year solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solarcity Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the New Straits Times reports.

“Under the agreement, Solarcity will design, construct, install, own, operate and maintain a solar photovoltaic (PV) energy generating system with a capacity of 2,380.32 kilowatt peak (KWp) and 3,000.24 KWp, respectively for Chin Well Fasteners and Chin Herr, aggregating a total capacity of 5,380.56 KWp,” writes Farah Adilla for the Times.

The installation of the solar power generating facilities reportedly will reduce Chin Well’s energy expenditure and carbon footprint. Both plants are expected to achieve commercial operation by the fourth quarter of 2022.

Founded in 1989, Malaysia-based Chin Well employs more than 600 workers to manufacture carbon steel fasteners for highway guard rails, power transmission towers, furniture and other applications. Chin Well fasteners are exported to Europe (60%), the U.S. (30%), Japan (5%) and South East Asia (5%). Web: ChinWell.com.my
