Forgings Dip 1% in 2008
The Forging Industry Association reported 2008 North American forging shipments dipped 1% to $6.08 billion.
The 2007 total was $6.15 billion.
Aerospace represents nearly a third of impression die forging in 2008 – up from 26.7% in 2007 to 33.1%. Automotive forging fell from 30.3% in 2007 to 23.7%.
The FIA report is based on information compiled from companies believed to have produced an average of 92% of total custom forging sales. The report is statistically calculated to represent 100% of shipments.
