LAFA & WAFD Announce Spring Meeting

The Los Angeles Fastener Association and the Western Association of Fastener Distributors will hold a joint meeting on March 9-12, 2005, at the Marriott Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, CA.
The program will focus on new European environmental regulations involving hexavalent chromium and their impact on western fastener distributors and their suppliers. “Restriction of Hazardous Substances,” is a panel discussion involving Brian Lowry, vice president of technical services for Curtis Metal Finishing Co.; Mark Larson, general manager of State Industrial Supply; and Jim Riley, COO of Stork Materials Testing & Inspection. Topics include the European Union ban on hex chrome; coating alternatives; supplier impacts; and whether “inventory segregation of compliant vs. non-compliant product (will) be an even bigger nightmare than the Fastener Quality Act.”
Other sessions include “Training Your Employees: What”s Available and Why Do It?” by Joe Greenslade of Greenslade & Co. and Carmen Vertullo of Simply Better; and “Cost is Not Just Price” by Lou Boyd of the Olander Co., Martin Calfee of Copper State Bolt & Nut, Andy Cohn of Duncan Bolt, Jay Hebert of Porteous Fastener Co., and Kelly Lehman of Pacific Warehouse Sales.
