The A&W Fasteners division of Long-Lok Corporation received AS9100 certification, national sales manager Aaron Dollenmeyer announced. The aerospace certification, plus its QSLM approval, allow A&W to supply hardware to aerospace, military and other government customers.

Acument Global Technologies Camcar was awarded a government grant and tax benefits for a $2.6 million heat-treatment expansion of its fastener facility in Decorah, IA.
As part of the expansion, Acument plans to add on to add a heat-treatment furnace, communications director Timothy Weir told FastenerNews.com.
“It will be used to handle the plants heat treatment for Elco construction fasteners manufactured there,” Weir stated.
Acument also plans to purchase a generator to convert waste heat into electricity. The expansion is expected to create 15 new jobs.

Alcoa Fastening Systems announced the successful deployment of a new trolley-tray fastener kitting system at the new Airbus A320 final assembly line in Tianjin, China.
The Tianjin system is similar deployment to the A320 plant in Hamburg, Germany. The system provides all fuselage and wing joint area fasteners from a point-of-use tray. The color-coded visual system is designed to make fastener selection mistake-proof, improve assembly speed and accuracy, and reduce inventory.

Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co. is slated to receive a $500,000 low-interest loan from the state of Ohio, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. The state Controlling Board is expected to vote on the deal in April.
The loan is part of a $750,000 investment that could create up to 20 jobs at Cardinal, stated company president John Grabner.
Cardinal Fastener made international news in January when then President-elect Barack Obama visited the factory enroute to his inauguration.
