AI Fastener Factory Opening in Taiwan
Taiwan automotive fastener supplier Spec Products has nearly completed its new $22 million factory in Tainan City completed in September 2024, Fastener World reports. The 79,000 sq ft AI facility should be operational by September, completing the company’s transition to smart manufacturing.
The factory will include smart manufacturing and smart trucks to reduce manufacturing costs and cope with manpower shortages, enabling Spec Products to double the self-production rate to 30% by 2027, according to Fastener World.
Founded in 2001, Spec Products Corp. has supplied fasteners to BMW, Ford, GM, Porsche, Tesla, and Toyota. Over 95% of its products are custom, with annual exports of more than 15.5 million specialized products. Market territory includes the Americas (60%), the EU (30%), and Japan and Southeast Asia.
