Textron Inc. announced an alliance with Safeguard Scientifics to develop global E-commerce strategies.
Safeguard Scientifics is an Internet holding and operating company with 250 web-related firms. The companies include Aligne and Cambridge Technology partners.
Textron will invest $100 million for 727,273 Safeguard shares. Textron gains �preferred access to Safeguard�s partner companies� products and services and will work with Safeguard�s network to develop next-generation technologies and solutions, according to the Textron announcement.
Textron plans online procurement, sales and distribution.
�This alliance will give us access to the most advanced and emerging E-business solutions, enabling us to accelerate the process of identifying and implementing the best technological solutions for our business needs,� Textron CEO Lewis Campbell said. �Textron is making e-progress at e-speed.�
