Numbers for the 2012 National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo in Las Vegas were nearly identical to 2011. 
• Total registration was 4,246 according to NIFMSE figures – just 8 people more than 4,238 for 2011.

• The number of distributors edged up 7 to 1,260.

• The 770 booth total was 13 over 2011.

How many of registrants attended? This year NIFMSE reverted from differentiating between “registration” and “attendance” in 2011 to reporting only registration for 2012.

Through almost all of its history, NIFMSE has announced “registration” numbers instead of actual attendance. Registration includes advance and onsite registration and advance registrants don’t necessarily attend the trade show.

“Experience has proven that 96.6% or more of our registrants actually pick-up their badges and walk the exhibit floor,” Hurley told FIN.  However, in 2011 NIFMSE’s own list showed 13.3% of registrants did not attend. Trade show experts find some shows have 50% drop-off rates.

NIFMSE management does not use an independent verified attendance system. Show management does provide a registration list to exhibitors. ©2012 GlobalFastenerNews.com
