Each Nucor Steel wire/rod coil weighs 2.25 tons and can yield from 1,000 to 400,000 fasteners, Jim Witucki of Nucor Fastener explains.  The Indiana manufacturer uses more than 27,000 coils per year.

The coils are processed prior to being formed in the boltmaker. Before being used to manufacture bolts, steel is annealed, then pickled and coated.

The steel coils are shipped from Nucor-NE to Nucor Fastener via rail. All steel used by Nucor Fastener is rolled and melted in the United States.

Nucor Fastener only uses cut length bar stock for producing hot forged nuts.

The 2013 FIN Calendar describes 23 fastener associations and 11 technical organizations. It lists 15 related organizations. Fastener trade shows around the world are described.

The 13-month FIN Calendar begins with December 2012 and lists 100 fastener meetings, trade shows and events.

Sponsors for the 18th FIN Calendar are: Intercorp, Nucor, Porteous, Brighton Best, Stelfast, Ken Forging, ND Industries, G.L. Huyett, XL Screw, INxSQL and Rotor Clip.
