A goal of China’s 7th Fastener Trade Show was to help fastener companies explore transitioning to higher-end production.

A part of China’s 12th Five-Year Plan, which runs from 2011 through 2015, is for the country’s manufacturers to move from low value-added to high end products.  The plan also encourages development of western China.

The 7th show was held in May in Chengdu.

In past years, China’s fastener industry grew fastest in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta.

“However, as the fast development in western China, the region’s economy is accelerating in recent years,” the trade show organizers pointed out.

Thus far 220 of the world’s “Top 500 Enterprises” have moved into this region and more projects are underway. China’s western region is expected to become the third largest growth region in the country’s fastener industry. China’s electronic and automobile industries are moving west.

The western China city of Chengdu recorded a 32.9% GDP increase in 2011 – exceeding 13.3% for Shanghai and 16.9%.

In addition to automakers moving to the west, the rapid infrastructure development and construction yields a strong fastener demand.

The Fastener Trade Show has begun holding its twice-a-year events alternating between developed and emerging markets.
