Fastener news in 2012  already  includes articles about the EU renewing tariffs on stainless steel screws from China and Taiwan and Nucor’s pressing for an ITC investigation on duties for fasteners from China and Taiwan.

Duties, tariffs and surcharges are not new.  Click on the Fastener History section for a variety of trade issue articles since 1979.  For example in 1981 the issue was a surcharge on Japanese fasteners. It was based on complaints involving support for Japan’s auto industry.
