Demand for Turkish Wire Rod Up 76.2%; U.S. Top Customer

In April, Turkey’s wire rod exports reached the highest value level since August 2008, according to the Istanbul Mineral & Metals Exporters’ Association.
April exports totaled 140,920 tons – up 76.2% over April 2009. The value totaled US$85.9 million, or 155.6% over April 2009.

The U.S. is the leading customer, followed by Italy, Chile, Peru, Libya, Spain, UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.

The average price per ton increased 12.95% from April 2009 to US$610 for April 2010.

For the first four months of 2010, Turkey’s wire rod exports surged 19.32% to 396.6 tones, while the total value jumped 45%. ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
