NFDA Fall Meeting Features Financial Benchmarking

Jason Sandefur

Financial benchmarking for fastener companies will be the general session topic at the autumn meeting of the National Fastener Distributors Association.\
Michael O’Shaughnessey, iLumen director of customer integration, will give a financial analysis of NFDA member companies during the September 16-18, 2008, meeting in Chicago.
In 2007 the NFDA began providing iLumen financial analysis and benchmarking to members. Companies can upload monthly financial data into the iLumen system to track individual financial performance and benchmark with other NFDA companies and the fastener industry as a whole.
O’Shaughnessey will give a financial analysis and industry benchmarking report based upon data submitted by NFDA members since the launch.
Joe Greenslade, Industrial Fasteners Institute director of engineering, will speak on “The Importance of Standards to the Fastener Industry and a New Way for Suppliers to Stay Technologically Connected.”
Greenslade will speak on the importance of standards in conjunction with the NFDA and IFI’s Fastener Industry Educational Group. In addition, Greenslade will demonstrate the IFI’s new Technology Connection, which provides standards data on specific parts within seconds.
Greenslade has worked in the fastener industry since 1970, including sales, applications, engineering, product management, plant management and R&D with Camcar-Textron and Rockford Headed Products. He founded Greenslade & Co. – a firm that supplies fastener manufacturing tooling, gaging and processing services.
Howard Fineman, Newsweek senior Washington political columnist, will discuss how the 2008 Presidential election will impact business. Fineman also writes for MSNBC.com and is an NBC news analyst and panelist on the Chris Matthews Show.
The schedule also includes NFDA’s Executive Sales Planning Sessions for private meetings between associate and distributor members. NFDA is featuring new associate hosted functions on Tuesday afternoon for sponsors to introduce new products or new marketing programs. Initial sponsors are Spirol International, ifastgroupe, Brighton-Best International and Safety Socket.
