Republic Reaches Tentative Labor Agreement

Republic Engineered Products Inc. announced it has reached a tentative labor agreement with union workers at plants in Ohio, Indiana and New York. The settlement is subject to document finalization and a union ratification vote.

Republic CEO Jaime Vigil emphasized that negotiations focused on the long-term interests of both the company and employees. “This new tentative labor contract provides a springboard from which we can continue to provide the innovations and advancements to strengthen our competitive position,” Vigil said.

Republic vice president of HR and corporate relations John Willoughby noted that competitors “are investing heavily in their SBQ capabilities and positioning themselves to take some of our market share. Republic and the union must unite to fight the competitive battles we collectively face.”

Republic produces steel for fasteners, forgings, hand tools, machine tools, appliances, automotive, bearings, converters, farm machinery, off-highway equipment, pumps and valves & fittings. Republic operates steelmaking centers in Ohio, New York, Indiana and Ontario. Republic was acquired in 2005 by Industria CH, S.A.
