The first International Fastener Show in Taiwan was held April 11-13, 2013, with show organizers reporting 272 exhibiting companies totaling 550 booths.
The trade show was organized by the Taiwan Fastener Trading Association and the Economic Development Bureau of the city of Tainan.

The trade show was designed to bring fasteners buyers from throughout the world to meet with Taiwan manufacturers instead of exporters traveling to many foreign events.

Taiwan’s 2012 fastener exports totaled 1.4 million tons and valued at US$4 billion.

Show officials noted that 80% of Taiwan’s fastener production is within 50km of the show.

TFTA chair Jim C.N. Chen said fastener-related companies upstream and downstream total more than 50,000 jobs.

Chen explained the Taiwan fastener industry relies on foreign sales and previous to thei new local companies had to exhibit in multiple global fastener shows.

There were 265 companies from Taiwan and seven foreign companies.

Show organizers estimated there were 8,000 buyers from 43 countries.

Chen termed the number of exhibitors and attendees as “Unexpected!”

The show organizers proclaimed the April 2013 event the fourth largest fastener show in the world.

The show drew representatives from European, Turkey, Italian, U.S., Hong Kong and Chinese fastener associations.

• In addition to the TFTA trade show, the Taiwan Industrial Fastener Institute, which represents manufacturers, and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, started a biennial trade show in 2012.  Their second show will be April 14-15, 2014, at the Taiwan International Fastener Show in Kaohsiung.
