No fastener importers, distributors or manufacturers are reported missing thus far in the World Trade Center tragedy in New York.
FIN contacted numerous Tri-State fastener companies and found many with losses of friends, neighbors and family, but no employees of fastener firms are currently listed as missing.\
Alleghany Corporation, parent company of fastener importer Heads & Threads International, is headquartered well away on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
WAFD Collecting for NY Firefighters� Families
The Western Association of Fastener Distributors collected checks for the families of New York during its autumn conference September 20-23, 2001, in Phoenix, and continues to accept donations.
Checks should be made out to the Widows and Children�s Fund of the NY Fire Department.
WAFD executive director Vickie Lester said 100% of funds will go to families of NYFD personnel lost in the World Trade Center tragedy. No administrative costs will be withheld from the donations.

STAFDA Seeks Tool, Equipment Donations
The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association is encouraging members to donate everything from diamond saw blades to gas-powered handheld saws for rescue workers.
Other items needed include torches, torch tips, cutters, rock crushers, work boots sizes 10 and up, work gloves, flashlights and batteries. They also need heavy equipment.
